Some famous names, and people who know some famous names, will be showing their short films at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
The 65 titles named Tuesday were culled from a record 8,102 submissions, according to Sundance organizers. They represent filmmakers from 24 countries.

Among the familiar names on the list:
» Actress Jordana Spiro, the star of the just-canceled TV series "The Mob Doctor," directs and co-writes the short film "Skin."
» Another actress, Romola Garai (now appearing on BBC’s "The Hour"), directs the U.K. short "Scrubber."
» Australian actor-director Nash Edgerton co-directs "The Captain." Edgerton — who appears with his more famous brother Joel in "Zero Dark Thirty" — has brought two disturbingly funny shorts to past Sundance festivals: "Spider" and "Bear."
» Filmmaker Riley Stearns, whose short "The Cub" is in the festival, isn’t famous yet. But his wife, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, is. She will appear in two feature films at Sundance ("A.C.O.D.," "The Spectacular Now").
» Mexican screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga ("Babel," "21 Grams," "Amores Perros") directs the U.S.-made short "Broken Night."
» Filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi ("Travels With George"), whose mother is House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, brings the documentary short "Fall to Grace," about the political career of former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevy.
» The directing team of Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, offer the documentary "The Battle of amFAR," about the birth of the famous AIDS-fighting group. The duo’s film, "Lovelace," is among this year’s Premieres.

Boneshaker » U.S.A. (Director and screenwriter: Frances Bodomo) — An African family lost in America travels to a Louisiana church to find a cure for its problem child.
Broken Night » U.S.A. (Director and screenwriter: Guillermo Arriaga) — A young woman and her 4-year-old daughter drive across desolated hills. Everything looks fine and they seem to enjoy the ride, until an accident sends them into the nightmare of darkness.
The Captain » Australia, U.S.A. (Directors: Nash Edgerton, Spencer Susser, Screenwriters: Nash Edgerton, Spencer Susser, Taika Waititi) — A man wakes up with a hangover, only to discover the consequences of his actions.
